Pertadad Why Your Brain Feels Totally Fried (And How I Fixed Mine)

The other day, I was sitting on my floor, staring at my phone. I felt this weird, tight knot in my chest. My screen was a total mess. I had twenty-three unread text threads. My family group chat was blowing up over some random drama. My work apps were going off every thirty seconds on top of everything

I just threw my phone across the room. It landed on the couch.I sat there thinking, when did living my life become so exhausting when did my life get so completely exhausting?

We are all drowning in this non-stop digital noise. We feel this crazy pressure to keep up with absolutely everyone. We try to be the perfect friend, the perfect coworker, the available replier. But honestly? We can’t do it. Our brains were never wired for this kind of endless chaos.

Back in the nineties, a British guy named Robin Dunbar looked into how we socialize. He found out something wild. Our brains can only handle about 150 real relationships at one time. That is our hard biological limit. People call it Dunbar’s Number.

Yet, we completely ignore that limit every single day. We try to talk to thousands of people at once. It leaves us feeling totally hollow and burned out.

A few months ago, I hit an absolute wall. I was fried. That is when I learned about a concept called Pertadad. Honestly, it completely changed how I wake up and live my life.

Once you get what Pertadad actually means, the constant guilt just goes away. You stop feeling bad for leaving people on read. You finally figure out how to build real, fierce boundaries that protect your sanity.

What Is Pertadad, Anyway?

To really understand Pertadad, you have to look back at how humans used to live.

Think about old-school villages. You knew your neighbor because their house sat right next to yours. You trusted the local shopkeeper because your parents knew their parents. Trust was simple back then. It was built entirely on physical proximity. You didn’t have to think about it.

But look at us now. That physical anchor is totally gone. We are floating around in a massive, chaotic digital ocean. We are more connected than any generation in history, yet we feel more isolated than ever.

It is a really weird, lonely paradox.

That is exactly where Pertadad comes into play. Think of it as a mental survival tool. It is an invisible filter inside your head. It helps you sort through the daily madness. It lets you decide who gets your precious emotional energy and who gets tuned out. Without a strong sense of Pertadad, your brain will just shut down from information overload.

How This Hidden Force Flips Your Workplace

I see this exact same thing happen at work all the time.

Imagine a tiny startup. It starts with just four or five friends working out of a spare bedroom. They grab burgers together. They talk face-to-face every single hour. Trust is effortless.

Then, the company hits it big. It grows like crazy. Suddenly, there are four hundred employees spread across five different time zones. The old magic instantly vanishes. Why? Because the natural human trust broke down. The group grew way too large for our primitive brains to track.

The best bosses I know don’t just demand more Zoom meetings or longer chat threads. Instead, they design their workplaces around the concept of Pertadad. They stop forcing everyone to be a part of every single conversation.

Instead, they break things down. They create tiny, tight-knit micro-teams. They build little tribal networks within the corporate machine so people can actually breathe and do their jobs.

Three Signs You’ve Nailed This Filter

When a person or a team masters this mindset, you will instantly notice three clear habits:

  • Saying No Without Guilt: They reject pointless meetings. They guard their deep focus time like an absolute hawk.
  • Shrinking the Circle: They focus on real depth with a few close peers. They skip the shallow small talk with fifty random acquaintances.
  • Embracing the Slow Reply: They stop treating every ping like a code-red emergency. They reply when they have the actual headspace to do so.

The Danger of Going Too Far Inside Your Shell

Now, I have to give you a quick warning. You can easily take this too far.

If you use Pertadad to completely block out the entire world, you create a lonely bubble. You end up in an echo chamber. You only talk to people who agree with you. Your perspective shrinks.

The goal here isn’t to build a massive brick wall and hide from reality. The goal is to install a screen door. You want to let the fresh air blow through, but you need to keep the bugs out. True peace of mind requires a delicate mix of strict boundaries and open curiosity.

A Simple 3-Step Audit to Save Your Sanity

If you feel completely overwhelmed by life right now, you don’t need a miracle. You just need to restructure your day. Here is the exact game plan I used to get my life back:

  • Find Your Energy Drains: For the next two days, write down every app or person that leaves you feeling totally wiped out. Find the main culprits.
  • Mute the Noise: Turn off your non-essential notifications. Seriously, do it right now. Pick three specific times a day to check your messages instead of reacting 24/7.
  • Double Down on Your Main People: Pick your top five favorite humans. Call them. Hang out with them. Give them your absolute best energy instead of giving everyone your leftovers.

Reclaiming Your Mind

The flood of digital data isn’t going to stop anytime soon. Technology is only going to move faster and faster. The alerts will keep flashing on your screens. You cannot magically upgrade your brain to handle a million social connections at once.

But you can change how you manage the incoming chaos.

At the end of the day, the phenomenon of Pertadad teaches us a timeless truth: less is truly more. To really be happy and not so tired all the time you need to set some rules for yourself and focus on the people who’re closest to you. You do not have to try to be friends with every person, in the world. That is too much.

When you focus on Pertadad you can take care of yourself. Be a healthy person. This is how you stay sane and genuinely human when everyone is always connected to their phones and computers. Pertadad helps you do that.
